about
There's a very active songwriting group that gets busy each February for an event called FAWM - February Album Writing Month. The supposed target is to write 14 songs in 28 days.
Some of the participants are lyricists who need music, so partnerships are formed. The Algorithm is the result of my partnership with lyricist, SImon Wright in FAWM 2023.
lyrics
Come praise The Algorithm
It's all knowing and divine
Understands more about you
Than your mother knows your mind
One hundred clicks is all it takes
For it to work you out
Every touchpoint that it tracks
Gets noted and compiled
Please praise The Algorithm
It's immaculate and fine
The purity of its logic
Is worthy of a shrine
One hundred clicks was all it took
For it to work you out
Each route and routine that you take
Is neatly logged and filed
Touch those keys if you dare
There are hidden eyes everywhere
And since you're unaware
They'll sneak right up on you
Yes, praise The Algorithm
Don't show it your disdain
It knows all your dirty secrets
And how to cause you pain
One hundred clicks was all it took
For it to work you out
Each route and routine that you take
Is neatly logged and filed
Touch those keys if you dare
There are hidden eyes everywhere
And since you're unaware
They'll sneak right up on you
All hail The Algorithm
The one truth and only god
It's heresy to say that it
Is not the thing you love
One hundred clicks was all it took
For it to work you out
Each route and routine that you take
Is neatly logged and filed
One hundred clicks was all it took
For it to work you out
